About me
Hello, my name’s Harry Beer.
I’m self-employed and my business name is The Space Man.
I’ve been decluttering and organising since my 20s and it eventually became a job in 2012. It took me until 2015 to finally establish a business. It was a social enterprise called Your Living Room. I learned a great deal from the experience but decided to go solo in 2019 which is when I became The Space Man.
By that time, I had realised that extreme mess, clutter and hoarding are symptoms of underlying emotional distress, often born of trauma. I decided I needed to offer more than just tidying up homes so I signed up for a level 3 diploma in counselling skills. This decision changed my life. It led to me gaining a first-class honours degree in Counselling and Psychotherapy and practising three days a week from Life Force in Colchester.
The two strands of my work are quite separate but connected. My approach to decluttering is person-centred, empathetic, non-judgemental and, crucially, the client is always in control. I do not undertake clearances per se and where possible I work with the client present.
If hoarding or clutter is affecting you please do get in touch, I offer an empathetic, non-judgemental service where you are in control.
Harry
